Hodkin and Jones are proud to have been commissioned to supply and install the main plaster moulding wall feature, sitting elegantly on display within the Millenium Cardiff Theatre.
The unique work of Hodkin and Jones meant manufacturing over 40,000 separate components by hand, and then installing each one individually, whilst in-keeping with a very tight deadline.
Having worked with many architects over the 148 years in the industry, Hodkin and Jones have expertise in restoring fire damaged mouldings in theatres and halls, and reinstating plaster mouldings in great mansions to create spectacular features such as this acoustically designed rock wall effect for the theatre.
The company then went on to win the coveted Plaisterers Trophy for the project; an award that is held in high esteem as one of the most prestigious competitions in the industry. Winning the trophy immediately classed Hodkin and Jones amongst the industry’s greatest, giving recognition from clients and reassurance for potential customers, ensuring a very high standard of workmanship.
Since completing the theatre, Hodkin and Jones have been involved in many other unique and bespoke restoration projects, but this one still stands out as a masterpiece of its kind. If you are ever visiting the Millennium Theatre to watch a show or concert, do take a minute to look at the wall feature, just as a reminder we still have great traditional craftsmen able to create stunning effects as this.
